The University of South Florida has named Robert H. Bishop the new dean of the USF College of Engineering.
Bishop currently is opus dean of Marquette University’s College of Engineering. He is both a professor and researcher in aerospace engineering. He works with NASA advanced navigation algorithms for test flight vehicles.
Bishop takes over Rafael Perez, who was USF College of Engineering interim dean for the past year.
During Perez’s tenure, the college attained Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, earned a grant from Board of Governors and Florida Legislature to fill workforce gaps in information technology, and increased student enrollment and retention.
Bishop is a fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a fellow of the American Astronautical Association.
"I am honored to join a team that is dedicated to student success and strategically focused on positively impacting the future," Bishop said in a statement.
The USF College of Engineering currently enrolls 4,600 students, employs 150 faculty members and conducts more than $25 million in annual research.
