A Florida Atlantic University student was practicing in the arts building after a concert Saturday night when a tall, half-dressed man threatened her with a knife, campus police reported.
The victim told police she had been at a woodwind ensemble performance earlier in the evening and had stayed at the Arts and Letters Building to practice. The room is open to the public.
She could hear others in the building practicing, too, but the crowd from the concert had dispersed.
About 10 p.m. the man “approached her with a knife and robbed her of some property,” FAU Deputy Chief Sean Brammer said.
Brammer said the perpetrator has not been located, and police are warning students and staff to be aware of their surroundings. The man was described as about 6-foot-tall wearing black shorts, no shirt and a black bandanna.
“Nothing we have at this time would indicate he is still in the area or that the community is threatened by this person,” Brammer said.
