The University of West Florida and University of South Florida Doctor of Physical Therapy partnership now is accepting applications through Nov. 15 for the fall 2014 semester.
The new program is highly competitive with only 12 slots available for qualified applicants. Admission is reserved for qualified graduates who have completed bachelor’s degrees at UWF.
It was designed to help meet a state-identified need for more physical therapists in a largely rural region of the state.
UWF will provide each student accepted into the three-year program with a $2,500 scholarship each year.
The program accepts applications from students completing a minimum of their last 48 hours of upper division course work at UWF toward a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, including athletic training, biology, health sciences, chemistry, exercise science, psychology and social work.
Students will spend their first year in the program in Tampa at the USF Health School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences and the final two years at UWF.
All clinical education internships will be conducted at Panhandle facilities.
