University of Florida computer engineering students will have new internship opportunities in town this fall.
Integrated retailer Sears Holdings Corp. has chosen Gainesville as the home of a new pilot internship program where UF students will be recruited to work on data analytics, network and information security and process analysis and design, according to a UF news release.
The company plans to recruit 25 UF interns to work at different Sears Holdings locations around the country before bringing them back to Gainesville in the fall to work at the new office once it opens.
Gainesville will be the first city to host the internship program, called the Technology Undergraduate Educational Partnership.
According to the release, the Council for Economic Outreach and UF partnered to bring the program to Gainesville. Officials from UF and Sears Holdings are expected to formally announce the program at a news conference this afternoon.
