FAMU student dies in Sunday night car crash

A Florida A&M University Marching 100 band member died when the car she was in lost control on the Florida Turnpike in Osceola County Sunday night.
Timbrina Thomas, 20, of Miami Gardens, Fl. died Sunday night. She was a Junior at FAMU studying psychology and played tenor saxophone in the Marching 100 band.
Thomas was the passenger with Samyra Wilson, 20, and the driver Brianni Lundy, 20. Their GMC SUV was traveling north on the Florida Turnpike at just before 7 p.m. near Yeehaw Junction when the vehicle's tires separated and lost control. The vehicle overturned multiple times, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Lundy received serious injuries and Wilson received minor injuries, both were transferred to Holmes Regional Medical Center, according to FHP.
Thomas' classmates at FAMU say she was a musician with ambition.
"Everybody loved her, she was just a good friend," said Lynnette Castell, a FAMU sophomore who also attended high school with Thomas at Miami Norland Senior High School in Miami Gardens.
