For the first time in 46 years, New College of Florida will conduct a formal presidential inauguration.
The Feb. 15 inauguration ceremony celebrates the appointment of Donal O’Shea as the fifth president of the Sarasota college, according to a written statement.
The inauguration will feature a formal procession with more than 150 New College professors and delegates in academic regalia from other universities, including Oxford, Yale and Harvard.
A ball and reception are among other events planned.
Speakers include Frank Brogan, chancellor of the State University System of Florida; Jennifer Carroll, Florida’s lieutenant governor, and William R. Johnston, New College board of trustees chair.
